Roland Tankowicz wasn’t even legally a person anymore.
The aging cyborg had never really recovered from being betrayed and enslaved by his superiors in the Army, and the final insult of being permanently classified as “defunct military ordnance” had been a bitter pill to swallow. Now, he spent most of his time drinking beer and working as a fixer for the crime families in 25th-century Boston. It was easy money if you were the kind of guy who was bullet-proof and could pick up a house.
But then Lucia Ribiero stumbled into his favorite watering hole dragging a squad of bounty hunters behind her. Shadows from his own dark past, and old debts still unpaid conspired to drive the old war-horse out for one more mission. Like any good soldier, the mission is all that matters for Roland.
Linked by a shared connection to her kidnapped father, the duo will face veritable armies of criminals, mutants, cyborgs, and corporate executives as they search for the missing man. The secrets of the Ribiero family are exposed as they approach the center of the labyrinth, and Lucia’s mental and physical issues present an even deeper mystery than her father’s disappearance.
Roland will have to face the horror of his past one more time, and Lucia will need to get a grip on her future if they expect to survive a running battle with an entire galaxy’s worth of mad science gone awry; and ultimately prevent a terrible history from repeating itself.
Ordnance The Fixer Book 1 eBook Andrew Vaillencourt
Roland, an enhanced human-cyborg, is a terrifying soldier of the future. Vaillencourt’s writing is tight and he does an excellent job of making his main character engaging in spite of his hard-boiled, almost-human persona. When Roland is approached by a seemingly helpless female asking for help, he is at first suspicious and reluctant, but he is forced into a decision. In a future when humans can be “augmented” with artifical, cyborg parts, a fight can turn deadly very quickly.
I found myself drawn into the story, and as a reader who requires a lot of action and fast moving plot, Ordnance was a satisfying and enjoyable read. I would recommend this book for readers of Cyber-Punk and Sci-fi.

Ordnance The Fixer Book 1 eBook Andrew Vaillencourt Reviews
This is not only a review of this book, but all 4 in the series. I really enjoyed these books. This series really took me off guard, wasn’t expecting much however I read all 4 books in about a week. I liked the premise of a gangster land heavy mixed with a cyborg and you have “Roland”. I hope we haven’t seen the last of this story arc.
A home run of a first novel.
This one hits all the right notes in all the right places.
An unstoppable cyborg, a gang war, sick corporate scientists and corporate slime, a beautiful woman with some strange talents, and a fallen Boston.
What's not to love.
I'll buy the rest of the series and any new additions as they come out.
I read it mostly on recommendation from Joshua Dalzelle an author I like and respect. The characters were good, the story was interesting but it was not great and thus the 4 stars.
Read this book if
1. You like sci-fi
2. You have extra time to read
3. You don't have anything really exciting waiting in your library or on your nightstand.
It's good enough.
Wasn't expecting much and got my socks knocked off I love this book !! I'd compare the author to the likes of Andy Weir in writing style, dry wit and a knack for great timing and delivery. The book had me from the first page. Characters are well done and mesh very well with the overall plot and the story building keeps the book in your hand. 3 book series so plan on buying them all.
Every now and again you fall into a gem of a novel! This novel was sitting on my kindle for a while now, I started yesterday and forgot to sleep last night. I found it impossible to put down!! I've been on a bit of a science fiction kick recently and really enjoyed reading this book. It's well written and tends to pull you into the characters while filling in their life stories, even in the end with last minute character building.
Go and have a read for yourself! I have just downloaded the series and after some need sleep time, I intend to get stuck into book 2.
I either got this for free or maybe spent $1.00 based on the description and then left it in my reading queue for quite awhile. I do that from time to time and this is one of those surprising gems that makes me regret the wait to read it (I’m about 40% through book #2 now). The cast of characters is terrific and fleshed out, the writing and editing are very good (the author either paid for editing or did a heck of a job), and the world-building and tech is really cool. For readers of the Hardcore Hank series I find this to be sort of a cross between that character and Robocop. This was a very fun read and I was glad to see there are already two more books in the series so I can continue the adventure. WELL worth the regular $5.00 “price of admisssion”!
I really, really enjoyed the old, detective noir style overlaid on the not-so-distant future world. As an eight-foot (or was it nine?) cyborg, Roland "Breach" Tankowicz more than fills the shoes of Dashiel Hammet or Raymond Chandler's tough-as-nails heroes. Add the fact that the dame in this story is less damsel and more butt-kicking beast in her own right, and you get a cyberpunk romp that's just a bunch of fun. Vaillencourt's main character carries black and white ideals for what's right and wrong, and manages to apply them in a way that makes sense in a very gray world.
Highly recommend for fans of detective noir and near future sci fi. A few small typos here and there--if you're the type to get angry about those, consider yourself warned.
